PROSE

Straight to Ovidio

This is an excerpt from the opening of my nonfiction novel about my adventures in Sri Lanka.  In early 2000, I traveled to the island nation at the behest of a mad producer named Ovidio.  I arrived shortly after the Tamil Tigers declared 2000 to be "The Year of War."  You can imagine my delight.
Bathroom Surgery

A short story I wrote around the time I have having a cyst removed from the back of my neck.  Around the same time, I was reading a lot of short stories by Charles Bukowski.  My imagination took over from there.  Fortunately, my real experience wasn't anything like this.
 Dark Carnival

One man's garbage is another man's treasure.  This narrative proves that adage when I spent two days working an oddjob shortly after moving to L.A. helping someone clean out her entire garage before she moved.
 .Hack Forward

I originally wrote this as a forward to .Hack//Another Birth, a book I adapted into English for Tokyopop.  For editorial reasons they ended up not using it.  However, I enjoyed writing it enough that I thought I should post it somewhere.  Basically, the book is about a futuristic online video game of amazing complexity and my forward addresses the speedy evolution of video games.
